I am taking photos as I go along and will post them in a few day (if I can stay awake from the overtime we are scheduled to work)...LOL

My Butchie...

Evening Bloggers,

I did my brother Butch proud today.

Whenever we were in a car traveling and he drove by golfers he would blow his horn. I asked why he did that and he said it was to mess them up as they were swinging.

Well....I did it. As I drove past the golfers today, one had his arms up and was swinging down and I blew my horn. I hope in the afterlife your loved ones can see...for if they do...my Butchie was laughing his butt off.

Taken up North when we buried dad. The summer before Butch died. Love you my Butchie.
Have a good night bloggers....OH I saw a new technique on how to do tumbling blocks. I will do photos and give it a shot.

Peace Out!

The Scarlet Thread

Evening Bloggers,

Just finished an excellent book by Francine Rivers titled: The Scarlet Thread.

Though these women lived in separate times their lives were similar.

Mary Catherine Murray keeps a journal of her life and travels to unsettled Oregon but turning to settle in California.

Sierra Madrid is in modern times.

What an amazing book telling both lives as you read along and how they connect in the end with the quilt Mary Catherine made. Who is Sierra's ancestor.

You know I was crying through this one. If you get a chance give this book a read. It is wonderful.

Fabric Envelope

Good Evening Bloggers,

Well, I made a fabric envelope as I said I would.

I took a pretty piece of fabric and ironed on a fusible interfacing (Pellon 808 Craft Fuse) which is also machine washable.

The fabric was too thick and would not work in the cutter. But I did use the scoring tool to make the lines to fold the envelope. The notches used in this design were cut with scissors instead.

The double sided tape did not work well to seal the envelope, also the Permanent Carfter's Tape did not hold up well either. There is a fabric tape I am going to buy to try, it fuses by ironing.

I would not try to mail this envelope using fabric but just think what a personal touch it would be to give a gift card using an envelope made by you.

Back of envelope.
Back of envelope closed.

Front of envelope.

If you look close you can see the double sided tap I used to hold the flap down.

Holding the envelope secure with a ribbon adds a nice touch.

A view of the back

I hope you enjoyed the ideas given. Most family and friends love homemade gifts.

Have a good night Bloggers.

Peace Out!

New Toy

Evening Bloggers,

I have a new toy thanks to my sister Pat.I am trying to post this before 10pm because I am soooo past my bed time but I believe I will go somewhat past 10 because I am so excited and want to share.

It is an envelope maker. The size I picked will hold a 4x6 in. folded index card used for a small invitation or such.

I purchased this on HSN (home shopping network) the item# is 1146224 - Envelope Punch Board. Cost is $19.95 and I paid $3.94 for shipping and handling. Not sure where you all may live but the shipping may vary.

Let's get started

For this envelope I used a 6x6 in. square paper.

Following the directions you line up the left edge of the paper on the score line, notch out the corner and score your fold line.

Following the directions you rotate counter clockwise lining up the score line with the score guide till your envelope is ready to fold.

Using the back side of the notch you insert the corners of your envelope to round the corners.

Inserting the corner.

Rounded corner is made.

Using you scoring tool, make a nice flat fold in your envelope.

I used glue but you can also use a double sided tape.

Just be sure when you glue or tape your envelope closed you do not go to the peak of the under fold or it will glue itself to the inside of the envelope.

Here is the finished project.

This envelope holds a 4x6 inch folded index card.

What a fun project.

I was thinking of trying this with fabric. I will post it when I do.

Peace Out Bloggers I hope you enjoyed the technique.

Jane Eyre....

What a fantastic book. I think I may listen again. All these years I have avoided reading Jane Eyre because it seemed long.

I did not want to see the movie when it came out because I was hoping eventually I WOULD find time to read it. But listening in the car to and from work gave me the opportunity.

This is a book I could listen to over and over again.

This is sooooo a thumbs up!

Peace Out!

Jane Eyre...

Evening again Bloggers,

I have been listening to Charlotte Brontë's book - Jane Eyre.

On my way to work in the morning I will be listening to disk 12 of 17.

I always heard it was a good book but never read it. Now with audio books I can catch up on a lot of books driving to and from work.

IT IS EXCELLENT...I HAVE CRIED FOUR TIMES ALREADY.....

Oh what I have missed by not liking to read.

I will post how I liked the ending.

For now...
 Peace Out Bloggers!

Family

Evening Bloggers,

What an absolutely wonderful weekend with family and friends.

My sister Pat and her husband, of 18 years today, Dave came up for the holiday weekend.

We laughed and cried together. Saturday was a dinner with relatives whom haven't seen Pat and Dave for a while.

If some of you may recall...Dolly and I surprised Pat on her birthday, November 17th last year, just as she started losing her hair from chemo. She bit the bullet and made the trek up north to see us and I think she looks and is doing wonderful.

I did forget to say Happy Anniversary to Pat when she called telling us she got home safely...so...Happy Anniversary Pat and Dave and many more.

This picture was taken Up North when we buried Dad. Or should I say in Dad's words "Dumped him in the river"

Peace Out Bloggers and I hope your weekend was a wonderful as ours...

Chenille Project

Evening Bloggers,

A couple Sundays ago my sister Pat sent me a site to make a chenille blanket. I took advantage of this design and made a pillow cover for Betty at work who turned 87 on her last birthday.

Being in a hurry I did not think to take pictures as I went along but here is the finished project. It was a fun project to do but next time I will take my time and make a baby blanket.

These are the fabrics I used. A pretty butterfly pattern for attaching the chenille affect fabric. Three colors white, yellow and light purple to make the chenille. The dark purple was used to make the pocket for the pillow.

You learn as you go along. I used the butterfly fabric as the backing...but...it is on the inside of the pillow case. Next time I will use a plain fabric and save the pretty fabric for a blanket. The dark purple was used to make the pockets as an opening to insert the pillow.

The finished project after it has been washed. Washing it gives it the chenille affect. You can click on the picture to take a closer look.

A couple close up shots of the finished project. You will understand better when I do the step by step pictures. You actually sew diagonal lines 1/2 inch apart then cut them.

This is Betty with the pillow case on her pillow behind her back. She loves it...said it is a lot better than having the hot plastic of the bag over the pillow.

 Peace Out Bloggers!

Joey at rest...

Evening Bloggers,

Sad day today. We entered Rod's brother Joey into rest.

For those who did not know...Joey's last bout in life was fighting cancer.

Joey was laid to rest in style and comfort surrounded by his loving family and dearest friedns.

I do have some pictures to share with you...but I will not post the ones of him.

I myself was so happy when I saw Joey after we left him so drained after his death on Friday. The funeral home did such a fantastic job. Joe looked like his old self again.

He was sporting a white bandana on his forehead with his sunglasses resting on his head. He was in his Black Harley vest with a long sleeve Harley T-shirt surrounded by memory photos and memorabilia to take on his journey into his new life. His lap was covered with his Harley blanket before the casket was closed. On the hood of the casket was an embroidery of a motorcycle done with orange to represent Harley. His niece Sonia's girls called him Peace Man. The words were put on there to represent Joe because he was the peace maker along with being very loving.

The following pictures are from the cemetery. He is buried about 40 feet away from his mom (Diana) who passed away in 2011. On the other side of the cemetery in the military section is his father (Rex) who passed away in 1996.

We shared some of Joey's flowers with his parents before we left the cemetery.

Rest in peace our loving Joey and we will see you when our journey comes.

This was on the inside cover of the coffin. Absolutely wonderful accent. And so appropriate.

This motorcycle is on the top of the vault.

 Peace Out!

Loss of a Brother...

Evening Bloggers,

My husband's brother passed away yesterday. He was only 55 years old. I will not get into a long explanation but in the long run...CANCER SUCKS.

Love and Hugs to my husband and his family...the best in-laws a girl could ever ask for.

Peace Out and Rest in Peace Joey!

Framed Elephant

Evening Bloggers,

So...I finally finished Susan's elephant needlepoint. To be honest I was so excited I was finished I brought it to work the very next day...forgetting to take a picture. I felt bad asking her to bring it back in but I told her I like to take pictures of thing I make and asked if she would please bring it back. She did...yippy!

Here are a few shots of the finished project. Oh...She said it has been in the drawer since 1978...Holy Cow. Hope you all like it.

Some people thought the image was a hat but it is needle point in a hoop.

Peace Out!

Finished Elephant

Evening Bloggers,

I got the elephant finished for Susan at work. Mind you, I worked around her needlepoint not wanting to disturb what she worked so hard at approx. 18 years ago.

I told her I got the embroidery part finished and asked if she would like me to make a pillow or a wall hanging out of it and she requested a wall hanging.

I did pick out a fabric I thought would look nice. I am going to start it this evening and hopefully finish tomorrow evening after work.

The pink in the elephant did not photograph as nicely as the first one but I think this fabric will compliment the elephant.

Until tomorrow night bloggers.

Peace Out!

Storms

Evening Bloggers,

This is the radar right now @ approx. 9:15pm.

Now, lets talk about my trip home from work.

Very strange weather. At 3:30pm I was headed north into lightening and very dark skies. Yes...I was ready to crap myself....kinda hard to drive with your hands over your eyes but I managed, I just spread my fingers and peaked through the cracks.

I was stopped at a red light (of all luck) black skies lighting up all around me then all of a sudden the sun comes out. Very bright and hot...what the????? Just like in the eye of the hurricane. Then, along with others, I tried to drive...scary as all poop. The cars in front of me looked like they had no control...then it hit my car...I swear to God Dorothy and Toto were at my side...the car felt like it wanted to lift up. All I could think was da ta da ta da da...da ta da ta da and your little dog too.

I called home and said "have the front door open so I can run inside"

I like storms even less now.

Have a good night all...I should have been in bed 30min ago.

Peace Out!

Un-finished elephant

Hello Bloggers,

One of the ladies from the Cornucopia Group brought in a few quilts that were gifts from her Aunt and one that she made. She also brought in an elephant embroidery she started about 18 years ago. When she purchased this the elephant was already on there. She gave up working on it because it was too time consuming. It is just put away to be unfinished...so...I volunteered to fill in the rest of the gray area for her.

If you noticed I evened up and filled in the sides at the top. I am now working from bottom up. I tried to match the color the best I could. I am also going to frame it for her.

Have a good evening Bloggers!

Peace Out!

Mary Balogh

Hello Bloggers,

I went with a different author this time. Mary Balogh wrote this book titled: No Man's Mistress.

I don't like to read what the book is about while i choose one. I judge by the cover and title. It's all bout the cover presentation. I would much rather be surprised.

Well, this one took a wild turn with all the love and romance you like in a book.

It was time for a time period change, which I prefer over modern time novels.

Good Night Bloggers.

Peace Out!

My trip...

Hello Bloggers,

As mentioned before I bought a brand spanking new pink bike to get exercise.

Last week the weather was beautiful. I finally got the courage to take my bike out for a spin. I went to the parking lot across the street so I would not be too far from home.

I was so proud...I got the bike going for about 30 seconds and saw a hole coming. I just happened to stop over the hole so my foot did not hit the ground as fast as I would have liked it to. Needless to say I have bruising on the outer side of my right knee and right elbow as the result of falling off. They both hurt like a bugger...LOL

My husband helped me up and the bike is hanging in the garage for now.

I will never say (come on, it's as easy as riding a bike) again.

So long bloggers.

Peace Out!

Nora Roberts

Evening Bloggers,

Been a week or so but I did finish the fourth book in the Bride Quartet by Nora Roberts titled: Happy Ever After.

This book was the last of the four friends who grew up playing wedding day and finding the man of her dreams.

Parker and Mal, being an unlikely match, are the last to fall in love.

The four girls Parker, Laura, Emma and Mac who grew up together, find the love of their lives (Del, Carter, Jack and Mal an outsider from their group) basically in their own back yard.

Each of them have a special skill. A photographer, baker, florist and business planner.

Another great set of books to read by Nora Roberts.

I am far from being a critic I just know what I like to read and pass it on.

Give this quartet a try. I myself don't have enough time to sit and read a book. As stated before I get the unabridged audio recordings and listen in the car to and from work, at break or lunch time or when I am at the computer.

Peace Out!

Nora Roberts

Evening Bloggers,

Just finished book three of the Bride Quartet by Nora Roberts titled: Savor the Moment.

Unlike books one and two which were very steamy...book three is more romantic matching up Laurel and Delaney. Nothing like hearing a sweet romance.

I know I don't talk much of the goings on in these books...but I just don't want to ruin something you may read. Reading the cover you already know who gets together but it's the leading up to that is so exciting.

Happy reading Bloggers.

Peace Out!

Tote Bag

Evening Bloggers,

Wanted to share my finished project with you.

I made at lined tote approx. 18x15 inches with a 43 inch straps. This is a nice deep tote for carrying taller items such as wine. It is great for a quick picnic or for shopping.

This tote is a donation. A co-worker/friend at work had a very good friend pass away last week. The family was unable to carry life insurance. To help this family along a fund raiser is being held for him to cover the funeral cost. This is to put in a Chinese auction.

This is my first project moving back into our home. I procrastinated long enough and now I am in the sewing mood.

Please keep this family in your prayers.

Peace Out!
